Sabrina H

Head of Diversity & Inclusion

Sabrina has worked at Elements since November of 2016. She immediately felt comfortable working with clients in all Elements’ groups and was drawn to the work because she witnessed the vulnerability that nature inspired in clients and employees. She became passionate about being an agent for change in the lives of others and in the work she pursued. Across her four years as a field mentor, Sabrina invested in her own professional development and progressed to the level of Advanced Lead. Part of the process for becoming an Advanced Lead, the highest ranking field mentor, is to develop a project that could improve the services Elements provides to its clients, and the program as a whole. Through reflection of her years on the trail, Sabrina saw that although Elements staff did a great job holding space for conversations around clients’ individual development, many struggled to hold space for conversations on racism, homophobia, and any array of “-ism”. In that moment she knew her legacy project for Elements would be a concerted focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. As part of her legacy project, which began in 2018, she coordinated with the Salt Lake City Inclusion Center of Community and Justice, ICCJ, to facilitate two 4-hour workshops. The workshops created a foundation for continued commitment to DEI at Elements. Together with members of each department at Elements, Sabrina created and chaired Elements’ first ever DEI committee in January of 2020.

She has since taken the initiative to pursue higher education in the form of a Professional Diversity Coach certificate through the Coach Diversity Institute, and has been instrumental in conducting and facilitating both internal and external training and growth opportunities for Elements. Now as Elements’ first-ever Head of Diversity and Inclusion, Sabrina is focused on the ongoing training and program improvements in order to help Elements achieve their DEI mission:

We strive for an environment where we actively promote curiosity and incorporate principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion with our employees and clients through education and honest dialogue. In doing so, we believe we can provide the most engaging and effective treatment program for our community.

Sabrina was born and raised in the panhandle of Florida. She attended Northwest Florida State College on a softball scholarship. She later transferred to the University of West Florida where she received a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Recreation, and Resort Management.

In her free time, Sabrina enjoys spending time outdoors: snowboarding, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and canyoneering. She also enjoys learning more about the world around her and how to make lasting change.
